Whimsical Musical Birthday Cake (Neon Colors)

Another cake for a teenager, turning 18. Dang, they grow up FAST!She was at the party where the other NEON cake was at (see below) and wanted a similar cake to celebrate with her family. :o) I wanted to make it kind of whimsical for her, and keep those trendy colors. She likes music so I used the notes to try to give it some personality. It's two tiers, 2 layers each, of french vanilla cake with french vanilla creme filling and all buttercream frosting. Freehand design.

**Side note** When I went to deliver this cake, no one was home! So mom said to go through the garage and leave it on the kitchen counter . . . I did, but only after she assured me there were NO animals in the house, lol!

Life is a Bowl of Cherries Birthday Cake

"Life is a bowl of cherries!" Mary Engelbreit themed birthday cake for my mother in law. I do love this design, it just says "happiness." :o) It's two layers of french vanilla cake with french vanilla creme filling and all buttercream frosting. Freehand designs. The bowl on top is cake, covered in buttercream. The cherries are just buttercream frosting with added powdered sugar to get a texture I could roll into little balls. mm mm mmm!

BOISE STATE BRONCOS BIRTHDAY CAKE!

This was another auction cake . . . made for my friend and PEO sister Carolyn and her family, several of whom were having birthdays, all of whom LOVE Boise State. :o) So I got to decorate another cake in MY favorite colors! LOL, did you know, I am THEIR BIGGEST FAN EVER! Well, now ya do. I super heart the BSU Broncos. Oh right, about the cake . . . Well, it's two tiers, 2 layers each, of vanilla cake with chocolate mousse filling and all buttercream frosting. Design is freehanded. Ok? OK! Now,
GO GO GO BIG BLUE! FIGHT FIGHT BSU!!! Gooooooooooo Broncos!

Last Minute Anniversary Cake

So I was shopping at Target (or Tar-zhay if you want to sound exotically silly ha ha), looking for who knows what (it WAS several days ago!) when I ran into my dear friend Val who mentioned they were throwing a last minute party for Tony and Steph's anniversary (Tony knew, Steph didn't) and could I come? "Would love too", I said! "What can I bring? Do you have a cake? No? I'll bring one!" SOMETIMES I wonder what I am thinking, ha ha! This was the same day I made the ladybug cake (see previous post) and after delivering that cake, I literally had less than 2 hours to bake, decorate and arrive at the party. But, hey, not too shabby, right?!! I thought it was kind of quaint and cute. :o) It's a butter pecan cake with vanilla creme filling and buttercream frosting. The leaves and flowers (look familiar? ladybug cake? ;o) ) and the black outline of the heart are marshmallow fondant. The party was fun, a little karaoke, a lot of good food, and some great friends! Even a Christmas tree (Tony proposed Christmas Eve twenty-something years ago) to add to the ambiance! Yay for fun parties!!

Ladybug, Ladybug . . . Birthday Cake

I loved how cheerful this cake turned out. :o) And just in time to say "Hello Spring!" This cake is french vanilla with vanilla creme filling and buttercream frosting and marshmallow fondant accents (the flowers, leaves, and ladybug antennae). The big ladybug is made from rice krispy treat covered in buttercream. Her antennae are toothpicks covered in mmf.

Softball Cupcake "Cake"

Had a request for a softball "cupcake cake." I wasn't 100% excited, because cupcake cakes are not my favorite. I hate that you can't get them symmetrical . . . They were, however, what the birthday girl wanted and practical, as she took them to a game and they were easy to hand out during the game. I heard later that the birthday girl hit and scored after eating hers. :o) So, maybe they're not so bad after all!
