Softball Cupcake "Cake"

Had a request for a softball "cupcake cake." I wasn't 100% excited, because cupcake cakes are not my favorite. I hate that you can't get them symmetrical . . . They were, however, what the birthday girl wanted and practical, as she took them to a game and they were easy to hand out during the game. I heard later that the birthday girl hit and scored after eating hers. :o) So, maybe they're not so bad after all!

Pretty in Pink Fashion Birthday Cake

This cake was FUN FUN FUN to make! I'm not sure it could be any more "girly" lol. Two tiers, 2 layers each, of french vanilla cake. Filling is raspberry filling sandwiched between french vanilla creme. Buttercream frosting. The purse is made from rice krispy treat covered in marshmallow fondant. The jewelry and makeup are all marshmallow fondant. Sorry for all the pics, but there's a lot of detail on this one. :o)

NEON Lights BRIGHT BRIGHT BRIGHT Birthday Cake

Happy 18th birthday to my son Jay's friend Allissa! They're had a surprise party for her, all NEON, so Jay asked me to make a coordinating cake. It turned out super bright and I hope they had fun and enjoyed it! Both tiers are two layers of vanilla cake with french vanilla creme filling and buttercream frosting. The cupcakes are dark chocolate fudge with buttercream frosting.

Mariner's Birthday Cake

This is for a good friend of ours. My husband requested that I use the "old" Mariners logo . . . It's 2 layers of golden vanilla cake with vanilla creme filling and buttercream frosting, all free-hand.

WILD and CRAZY Colorful Birthday Cake

This WILD and CRAZY cake was just F-U-N. The birthday girl wanted bright colors, specifically:n eon green, purple, hot pink, and turquoise blue. She wanted polka dots, stripes, swirlies and zebra print. I think I got it all in, ha ha. The cake is 10" on the bottom and 6" on top, both 2 layers of red velvet cake with vanilla cream filling. The frosting is buttercream. The "13" on top is rice krispy treat covered in buttercream.

DELICIOUS Rocky Mountain High School Baseball Cake

Mmm mmm mmm. Chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate. Mmmmmmm. Add some raspberry filling sandwiched inbetween chocolate mousse under chocolate fudge and I believe you have something real special.
I think this would be a very delicious cake, but I didn't get to taste it, lol. It's 2 layers of chocolate fudge cake (with pudding AND sour cream) and chocolate mousse AND raspberry filling, with chocolate fudge frosting and buttercream accents. The baseball and logo are free-handed with buttercream frosting. :o) Here's what the cake taker said: "Hi Cathy! We actually bid on this cake at the auction and it was quite deilicious!!" (I know that she meant delicious, I will take it any way you want to spell it, ha ha).

CHEERFUL Daisies and Ladybugs Birthday Cake

This is just a cheerful little chocolate birthday cake with chocolate mousse filling and buttercream filling. Don't daisies and ladybugs just make you smile?!! And I liked this color combo a lot, too. It disappeared from the counter at work so I think maybe it tasted alright, as well. ;o)

Super Mario Bros. Mushroom Birthday Cake!

Fun fun fun Super Mario cake! Thanks Heather, for coming up with this idea and letting me create it for you. :o) This is a two tiered golden vanilla cake with raspberry filling and all buttercream frosting. The "mushroom cap" is rice krispy treat covered in buttercream.

For a baby shower :o). Teapot and cup are made of rice krispy treat covered in buttercream frosting. The baby in the cup (which my children told me was "Gross! You're going to drink the baby?" lol) is made of just buttercream. The 11" x 15" cake is triple chocolate fudge with raspberry filling and buttercream frosting. It was a very tasty combo, if I do say so myself! I have to say, I LOVE RICE KRISPY TREATS and the multitude of things you can sculpt from them. :o) I know that the cake purists out there will say that if it's not cake it doesn't count, but I say if you can sculpt it and eat it and it looks and tastes great then by all means DO IT! I will continue to use rice krispy treat on many more cakes, I'm sure. This one was loved by the mom to be (a tea drinker, of course) and that is what makes me the happiest about the cakes I make.

Thomas the Tank Engine Birthday Cake

Kouta's "Thomas the Tank Engine" cake. :o) 11" x 15" golden vanilla cake with chocolate creme filling and buttercream frosting. Thomas is free-handed here. Now, I would really have loved to make this a 3-D cake, but again, time is a factor for me . . . in that I never seem to have enough of it! If ever I'm able to quit my day job, then I can spend more time on these fun fun fun creations . . . until then, I just have to do what I can. :o)

Wolf Silhouette Birthday Cake

Well, I WANTED to spend a lot more time on this cake and make it kind of cool . . . but with 3 other cake events the same weekend, well, the family cake was kind of the after-thought, lol. Not lesser in love, just lesser in time, ha ha. This is a two layer yellow cake with chocolate creme filling and chocolate fudge frosting. The moon and wolf silhouette are buttercream frosting, free-handed. It would be kind of fun to do an entire cake in yellow or white, and then cover it with different silhouettes of animals, flowers, etc. Or a cityscape!!! Yes, a cityscape would be very cool and may be coming soon to a cake blog near you . . .

Best Wishes Good-Bye Cake

A going away cake for a friend at work! This is a two tiered french vanilla cake with vanilla creme filling and buttercream frosting. Next time I think I'll do black with the pink . . . I think that would look tres chic against the yellow. :o)

I just LOVE white on white with cakes! Especially for sweet, special occasions, like baptisms. :o) This one is made for our dear friends daughter who was just baptized this past weekend. Such a great occasion! Her cake is golden vanilla with french vanilla creme filling and buttercream icing. I really think the white keeps it simple, but the cornelli lace and the cross make it elegant.
