Seahawks Birthday Cake

Happy Birthday to a good friend of ours who moved to the Treasure Valley from Seattle. Good year for him, with his team winning the Super Bowl! Chocolate cake with a combo white chocolate cream cheese and raspberry filing. Frosting is all buttercream with the logo hand piped.

Chic 1D (One Dimension) Sweet Sixteen Cake

Wild and chic at the same time, had fun with this SweetSixteen Cake. Combined sweet, simple hearts with sassy zebra stripes to complement the 1D logo on top, for a birthday cake any teen girl would enjoy. Red velvet cake and white chocolate cream cheese filling, buttercream frosting and marshmallow fondant accents.

Stacked Logs Birthday Cake PLUS Picnic on Log sheet cakes

This was a HUGE commitment for someone who works full time. I was happy to agree to do it for a very sweet friend who was helping to plan a surprise birthday for their church pastor. Crazily, the hospital ended up with planned downtimes, TWO nights the weekend these cakes needed to be finished, and of course I had to be there. I busted it out though and was really happy with the results. My one regret was not transporting the cakes myself. These cakes are so tricky and balance is KEY. There was some sliding, and the middle tier crushed part of the back of the bottom tier. :( I went over to try to save it and as long as it didn't fall after I left, it looked pretty ok, just a little more lopsided than was ever intended. Hopefully Pastor Mascroft still enjoyed his birthday celebration!!
The top 2 tiers of the big cake were chocolate and the bottom was yellow. The sheet cakes were 1 yellow and 1 chocolate. Raspberry filling in all of them, and a combination of buttercream, chocolate buttercream and marshmallow fondant accents.

Made this cake to celebrate the 9th "birthday" of Chapter CJ. Love my PEO ladies, such a great group of sisters and friends! Vanilla cake with raspberry filling and buttercream frosting.

Baseball Celebration

Made this cake as a fundraiser donation, which is not my favorite thing to do. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE to support a cause when it's a good cause and I'm able, but this cake was requested for a dessert auction people just don't realize what custom cakes are worth, how much time and effort goes into them. This one was no different, went for a fairly low bid, but I did have the satisfaction of knowing it went to some great people. :) And I did like how the cake turned out, so still had that satisfaction. But if you want to ask me to donate a cake, be aware I will probably turn down future requests for that type of auction. I'll be happy to make you something simpler, if I have the time and means, perhaps.
This cake is red velvet, with cream cheese filling and marshmallow fondant, hand cut, accents.

Unicorn with Rainbow Birthday Cake

Kids LOVE unicorns, and there is no scarcity of unicorn cakes on the internet. My challenge, though, was to make a cake for an ADULT who likes unicorns, rainbows, panda bears and stars. . . Which is all the direction I had. I dont know the cake recipient well, but hope that this cake was not too childish for her. Or maybe at least brought her inner kid out and put a little fun and whimsy into her birthday. :-)
The cake is double chocolate, with chocolate fudge filling and buttercream frosting. The rainbow is licorice and the unicorn, stars and flowers are marshmallow fondant.

Pirate Birthday Cake

I was excited to make this cake, as I think it was my first with the pirate theme. :) I love trying new things. Mom to the birthday gave me a photo to go by, so I can't claim artistic originality here, but it was fun just the same. And I did add a couple of my own small touches. :)
Vanilla cake, chocolate fudge filling, buttercream frosting and marshmallow fondant accents. The treasure chest has a base of rice krispy treat. The birthday boy loved it, which is my favorite part. :)

Simple Scrolled Birthday Cake with Flowers

Made this cake for the mom of a good friend. I wasn't sure at first how to decorate, but was short on time so went with classic scrolling which always looks good. Added some fondant flowers, green sugar pearls and voila. Pink was a guess, turned out to be a decent one. April is one of the few 71 year olds who could rock the pink highlights. :)

Skateboard Birthday Cake

Skater cake for a skateboard fan. Chocolate cake, buttercream frosting and marshmallow fondant for the name and silhouette. Was a last minute request, so this simple design fit the bill. :)

Christmas Cupcakes

Nothing too fancy, just some simple Christmas-y cupcakes for coworkers. I also did some with wreaths and other tree designs but neglected to get photos of those, somehow. :-/ They were fun and festive, though! :-)

Fairy Barbie Birthday Cake

Another birthday another Barbie cake, lol. Addie requested this fairy Barbie cake, in pinks and purple. Dress made using 1 1/2 batter bowl cakes, stacked. Vanilla cake with vanilla filling. Buttercream frosting with some marshmallow fondant accents.

Beauty and the Beast Belle Barbie Birthday Cake

Will she remember it? Nope. But I bet her momma will, and when Izabella looks back at her childhood photos, I hope she sees this and feels the love. :-) I mean, that is why special cakes are made, right? So someone feels loved.
The barbie's dress here was made using the Pampered Chef batter bowl, and rice krispy treat to fill out the dress (see photos below to see how). Cake is vanilla with raspberry filling. Roses are made from marshmallow fondant. While I was not much of a Barbie fan in my childhood, I've sure had fun with these Barbie cakes, lol.
