Bright Paint Splatter Birthday Cake

This was hands-down the messiest cake I have ever made! Made it for a good friend's daughter, who turned that special age of 13, finally a teenager! The cake is vanilla with white chocolate cream cheese filling. I used black buttercream, and then splattered it with brightly colored royal icing.
That hot pink bow is made of white chocolate. That was a big mess as well, but I thought it turned out really fun and was worth it! Just for fun I thought I would make this a tie-dyed cake. So, I colored the better four different colors
and you can see below how it turned out. Fun fun fun!

Black Ivy-covered Birthday Cake

A friend of mine, at the last minute, decided she would like a fun and fancy 40th birthday cake. I didn't blame her, as who can turn down a chance to celebrate? This was a simple design, black and white with hand piped black ivy trailing over the white butter cream. It is modeled after a cake photo she sent me, so the design is not entirely mine. There are a few marshmallow fondant flower accents. The cake was chocolate with chocolate cream filling. Mmmm mmmm good. 😉

Good Luck Pennant Flag Cake

As a manager, it's HARD to lose good employees. Even though they move on (understandable when it's a good career move, as this one was) I do try to let my colleagues know they are appreciated. Sometimes, I make them a cake like this one. :-)

Simple, but I thought it turned out pretty cute. Golden vanilla cake with vanilla creme filling, buttercream frosting and the pennant flags are marshmallow fondant.

Flower Petals and Chevron Baby Shower Cake

Made this cake at the request of grandma to be, for her daughters baby shower. Let me just say, chevrons are NOT easy. I definitely need more practice with precision geometrical shapes.

This is a chocolate cake, with buttercream icing and filling. Petals and chevron are hand cut/formed marshmallow fondant. Ended up being a nice cake, I thought, but I would do a few things differently if I do chevron again.

For one, I would MEASURE very specifically the stripes and be very sure of the correct proportions. In this case, I would have made them thinner. Also, I would have chilled the stripes after rolling and cutting the fondant to make it easier to place.

I did LOVE the petal covered top tier, although hand forming that many petals took AGES. 😉

Bee and Puppycat

Wow-made this cake clear back in January. I'm behind in my posts! Sadly, this is due to a loss in my life, of my dear and much loved gramma. Cakes were the least of my thoughts then. This one was completed just that morning, before I received the news. Miss you, Gramma George.
I'd never heard of the cartoon "Bee and Puppycat," but when a friends daughter requested the theme for her birthday, I researched and found its a YouTube phenom.

The cake is chocolate with vanilla crème filling, buttercream icing and marshmallow fondant accents. Mmf figures are all hand formed.
