Made this cake for the daughter of some close friends and wanted to make it kind of special. I went for a two-toned design and made fondant flowers using Wilton Fondant and Gumpaste molds. I loved how those worked! The cake is chocolate with vanilla creme filling and buttercream frosting, and the marshmallow fondant accents. I think it turned out unique and lovely, just like the birthday girl! :o)

Skylander "Portal" Birthday Cake
Having never heard of "Skylander" before, this cake was a bit of a challenge for me. Turns out, it's a video game, and apparently a popular one at that. Not popular enough yet, though, for there to be too much out there on the old www. LOL. So I did the best I could, after all, I LOVE this little nephew a great deal. And he was happy with his cake, which makes ME happy with his cake. :O) It's all about the smiles, I'm telling you. This cake is 2 tiers of vanilla cake with french vanilla creme filling and buttercream frosting, with marshmallow fondant accents. The character on top is an actual game figure, as I just didn't have it in me this time to try to create one from fondant . . . Don't ask me what the symbols on the cake actually mean, as I haven't got a clue, lol.
Western Wedding!
Well. It's true, I generally don't do weddings. I mean, I DO have a full time 40+ hours a week real-life job and all . . . and weddings, they take TIME. But this was a favor for my beloved mother, who after all, did bring me into the world and opted not to "take me out of it" though I'm sure I pushed her to that limit on more than one occasion. So, these were for the daughter of a friend of my mother . . . and originally it was to just be a small wedding cake, but somehow it grew into 125+ regular sized cupcakes, 36+ mini cupcakes, and a 6" 2 layer small wedding cake for them to cut. I made 4 kinds of cake: yellow, french vanilla, chocolate and "funfetti" as that's what they wanted in the layered cake. :o) The frosting is vanilla and chocolate buttercream, with marshmallow fondant accents, most hand formed, some hand cut with fondant cutters. I don't yet have a photo of the cupcake tower at the wedding . . . hope to get a good one soon, as I did hear that everything at the wedding looked wonderfully western . . .

Boise State Jersey Birthday Cake
40th birthday for the husband of a friend of mine, and she decided to surprise him with a party and this BSU Jersey birthday cake. It's chocolate cake, chocolate fudge filling, buttercream frosting with some marshmallow fondant accents (numbers, stripes). Had fun with it, especially since Boise State is my team, too!

Boise State Broncos Football Celebration Cake
This cake was made for the 2012 opening season game, 2012 BSU-Michigan State. Although my Broncos didn't win (held their own though!), I think the cake turned out pretty well. It's vanilla cake with french vanilla creme filling, buttercream frosting and marshmallow fondant accents. Had a little fun and piped on some blue turf . . .:o)

Film Production/Movie Cake
This was a special cake, as it was for my son's 18th birthday. He loves production, film and editing, so I tried to put those things into his cake. He seemed to really like it, and I liked how it turned out as well. It's chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream frosting and filling, with marshmallow fondant accents, all hand formed.
Wrapped Gift Birthday Cake
Made this cake for a dear friend of mine. It's chocolate fudge cake, with chocolate fudge filling, buttercream frosting and marshmallow fondant accents. I used pearl dust (edible) to shimmer up the ribbons on top, as this friend has such a "sparkly" personality. :o)
