Fun fun fun Super Mario cake! Thanks Heather, for coming up with this idea and letting me create it for you. :o) This is a two tiered golden vanilla cake with raspberry filling and all buttercream frosting. The "mushroom cap" is rice krispy treat covered in buttercream.
2/24/11
For a baby shower :o). Teapot and cup are made of rice krispy treat covered in buttercream frosting. The baby in the cup (which my children told me was "Gross! You're going to drink the baby?" lol) is made of just buttercream. The 11" x 15" cake is triple chocolate fudge with raspberry filling and buttercream frosting. It was a very tasty combo, if I do say so myself! I have to say, I LOVE RICE KRISPY TREATS and the multitude of things you can sculpt from them. :o) I know that the cake purists out there will say that if it's not cake it doesn't count, but I say if you can sculpt it and eat it and it looks and tastes great then by all means DO IT! I will continue to use rice krispy treat on many more cakes, I'm sure. This one was loved by the mom to be (a tea drinker, of course) and that is what makes me the happiest about the cakes I make.
Thomas the Tank Engine Birthday Cake
Kouta's "Thomas the Tank Engine" cake. :o) 11" x 15" golden vanilla cake with chocolate creme filling and buttercream frosting. Thomas is free-handed here. Now, I would really have loved to make this a 3-D cake, but again, time is a factor for me . . . in that I never seem to have enough of it! If ever I'm able to quit my day job, then I can spend more time on these fun fun fun creations . . . until then, I just have to do what I can. :o)
Wolf Silhouette Birthday Cake
Well, I WANTED to spend a lot more time on this cake and make it kind of cool . . . but with 3 other cake events the same weekend, well, the family cake was kind of the after-thought, lol. Not lesser in love, just lesser in time, ha ha. This is a two layer yellow cake with chocolate creme filling and chocolate fudge frosting. The moon and wolf silhouette are buttercream frosting, free-handed. It would be kind of fun to do an entire cake in yellow or white, and then cover it with different silhouettes of animals, flowers, etc. Or a cityscape!!! Yes, a cityscape would be very cool and may be coming soon to a cake blog near you . . .
